Shirley Robertson
Funeral Home Organist

In 1988 I received a telephone call from James Mackey, Sr. asking if I would play for a funeral at the Mackey Funeral Home. 2024 was the beginning of thirty-five years being their organist.
Previously, the children and I had returned home from Liberia, West Africa following the death of my missionary husband, Rev. Don Collins. He was a bush pilot as well and during one of his flights the plane crashed, killing him and his two passengers.
I worked in the library at Fleming College for a few years, and then became a Church secretary. Bob Robertson and I were married in 1977. During these years, I was blessed to to have worked as Organist and Music Director for several churches, including Lindsay, Omemee and Peterborough.
I have a very supportive family...a daughter, a son and his wife, as well as two grandsons, and four great granddaughters. They all share the love of music!
I feel honoured to have played the organ for many grieving families who have wanted the comfort of music to celebrate their loved ones.
The Mackey family have been wonderful to work for and I appreciate all their kindness over these years.
